Will XBOX live EVER be FREE?

I just wandered what your thoughts would be on this.

Sony offer playstation users 100% free online gaming. So why not Xbox?

If I remember correctly, microsoft have lost $3Billion because of the Xbox (faults, selling at a lower than manufactured price etc) so therefore they need to recoup some of the money they have lost.
One way is through licensing. But the other is xbox live. I doubt they will stop charging for it.

    It won't EVER!
Think about. Microsoft have already seen the number of users who pay. Why would they stop this revenue stream?
If you really want free online gaming, by a PS3.

Yeah but thats not our fault it's down to them if they lost money because they wanted to under cut Sony and other consoles, but to the question i can't ever see it being free mate but i can see them doing a platinum subscription as well as the gold and silver and if they do go down this route you can bet it will go up to $100 or more ;-( just me saying what i think could happen and remember were you read it first ;-)

Any company likes to have profit till they cover huge amount of profit by there products. So I dont think it will be free even after the company gets closed. There may be chances of deducting rates but no chance to be free.

It will never be free, but i really like the service that xbox live offers and i don`t think that its expensive, but PSN is really inferior to the live, and if i have to pay to get my live i`ll always pay.

Basically you get what you paid for, and as long as people are willing to pay for it, MS will keep it. I have a PS3 and I don't use their live features at all, and when I logged in, I honestly wasn't impressed, but I did see that the PS3 has a PS3 live plus for the same price as MS live, which is probably the direction that they are moving.

I don't hate paying for Xbox Live. It works great and offers a nice service.
    Better than PSN
